Take a Little Time to Enjoy the View

You may recognize that phrase as the sign off for the ladies on the morning show by the same name (The View), but today you can consider it the travel tip of the day. There are so many awesome attractions in each of the major cities perfect for educational tours and graduation trips. But lately I've been struck by one of the best ways to experience any city. Take in the View. There are usually several ways to do it, and all of them offer a unique way to embrace the city of your destination.
Most cities offer high-rise observation decks, of course, like the Empire State Building in New York City or Top of the Rock (otherwise known as the top of Rockefeller Center) which many say actually rivals the Empire State Building both in experience (less wait, more exciting exhibits) and the view. Boston has the Prudential Skywalk, and Chicago still boasts the tallest building in the country, Sears Tower, which also offers a sky-high view of the city.
But just wait - Chicago is my inspiration today, because I wanted to point out one of the most unique views I've every seen. It happens right on the ground - so it's perfect if you have any fear of heights. you can see it the photo here by TacticalGrace on Flickr. It's an amazing stainless steel sculpture called Cloud Gate. The sculpture is just one of the many landscape highlights in Millennium Park, and the design was chosen specifically to reflect Chicago's beautiful skyline. It's a great place to enjoy Chicago's reputation for exciting architecture and take memorable pictures from your trip. For an even more beautiful reflection, try this at night! But, please, as my photographer friend has warned - don't use your flash. The reflection from the city lights in this amazing sculpture are enough light on their own.
