Orlando Overview

Orlando is probably best known for being the home of Disney World. From the time they learn who Mickey Mouse is every kid dreams of taking a trip to Disney World. This giant theme park isn’t the only attraction in the Orlando area though; there are a number of other theme parks and attractions that draw over 50 million tourists to this city every year. The vast number of amusement parks makes this a prime spot for a memorable senior grad trip, however, there are also a number of museums, theaters, and educational opportunities, so don’t disqualify it as a destination for school trip or field trip. Here are a few things that Orlando has to offer.

Orlando has several museums that are perfect for school trips and field trips. The Orlando Science Center is a great place for hands-on learning, and is also home to an observatory containing the largest refracting telescope in Florida. Several art museums in the Florida area feature American Art, Modern Art, and ancient art. The Orlando Museum of Art, the Morse Museum of Art, and the Mennello Museum of American Art are a few places that house such collections. For a lesson on the Florida area head to Orange County Regional History Center for information on the original inhabitants of the area as well as modern day developments.

Of course no one can visit Florida without visiting some of the famous theme parks. The Walt Disney World is the most popular and within the park students can visit an Animal Kingdom, the Epcot Center and a large water park. There are also various rides and roller coasters as well as all the favorite Disney characters ready for a picture. SeaWorld Orlando is another popular destination, and children of all ages will love seeing the dolphin and killer whale shows, as well as viewing the various aquariums, exhibits and animal habitats. Movie fans will want to check out Universal Studios for themed rides based on many popular movies. These parks are a fabulous option for a senior trip.

There are many other options for having fun in Orlando. This city has quite a lot of theaters that perform everything from musicals to Shakespeare, so consider taking in a show as an evening activity. The Kennedy Space Center is another attraction that a school group will enjoy checking out. The Center is located 45 minutes from Orlando a bit south of Daytona Beach, but the drive will be worth it as students will be able to tour launch sites, view giant rockets and learn about outer space in a whole new way. For a unique tour take the group to Gatorland, a large park which houses thousands of alligators and crocodiles. Visitors can even watch alligator wrestling!

These are just a few attractions that you will want to consider when thinking about a student tour. Orlando also has many shopping malls and outlet stores for hardcore shoppers, as well as several professional sports teams. There are even unique attractions such as the world’s largest McDonald’s playplace, complete with an arcade and gourmet sandwiches, soups and desserts. Orlando is a bustling place filled with energy and excitement, so consider booking a student tour today.
