Boston Yesterday and Today

I've never actually been a Red Sox fan, but I'm definitely an admirer of their fans. They're so rowdy and loyal. They stuck by the Sox all through their championship drought with that curse and everything. It was very admirable. Then when they did win the championship finally after so many decades and then won it yet again two years later, I had to admire them as well. Who in the country didn't?

I've been researching Boston. It's called the city that birthed our independence, and there is literally historical treasure just dripping from this city. Boston educational tours are a great way to get students to remember those important dates from the revolution, because they get to practically live them here. There are reenactments, historical sites and monuments, battle fields, meeting houses, churches, homes - all rich with detailed history from this truly American era.

As I learned about these great historical sites and also the modern attractions in Boston like the Prudential Center and the amazing Museum of Science, I thought especially about the Red Sox. I was struck by this city's staying power, its ability to memorialize and showcase history while still growing and blooming around it.

All those years without a championship. If anyone had dared to write off Boston as historical artifact, the Red Sox had something to say to them. We're still here. We still have what it takes . . . And here's a little something for the fans.
