Philadelphia makes a great place for a student tour of field trip. There are plenty of things to see in this city, and if the group is interested in history this is definitely the place to be! Philadelphia was America’s first capitol, and was the site of numerous historical events that shaped our nation. Of course, Philadelphia is a great place to see some historical sites. The most popular place is probably Independence National Historical Park. This park contains Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was drafted and adopted. Also on the premise is the famous Liberty Bell. According to Tradition, this bell rung to summon the townspeople to the reading of the Declaration of Independence. While historians now consider this story to be unlikely, the bell still remains a popular symbol of freedom. Students may also enjoy a visit to the park’s National Constitution Center, a history museum that focuses on the U.S. Constitutional history. The Betsy Ross House, Valley Forge National Historical Park, and Old City Hall are a few more historic sites offered, and students may also want to tour the United States Mint. Here they can tour the facility, see actual coins in production, and watch several documentaries and audio presentation on the mint’s history and current function.

Philadelphia features some top-notch art opportunities as well. This 9,200 acre park provides plenty of room to picnic, play, and expend any unnecessary energy that might be lurking about.

To satisfy your group’s hunger, try one of the popular Philadelphia foods. This city is famous for its cheese steaks; a sandwich made with thinly sliced steak and melted cheese. Soft pretzels and water ice are also popular food choices. After dinner, let your group have some downtime by hitting the Franklin Mills Outlet Mall. Or for a more eclectic shopping experience try South Street. This street attracts a diverse crowd and features a variety of novelty shops, antique stores, and even an Italian market.
