Where Science Meets Current Events

This picture was taken at the Marian Koshland Science Museum in Washington D.C. (you can find the photo on this Flickr site) and is an exhibit on global warming, clearly a hot topic in our world today.  It has been a critical and somewhat controversial subject for some time.  It even plays into our upcoming election.  What you believe about this subject, what you understand about it and how much or in what way you feel humans can affect it, might very well influence your vote on November 4.

This is the goal of the Marian Koshland museum.  They want to bring science and current events together, so that its visitors are brought face to face with the relevance of our world, our need to understand it and our place in it, and exactly what we can accomplish once we take the time to study these things.

There are so many museums in Washington D.C., one of the many reasons it is perfect for educational tours.  But the Marian Koshland Science Museum holds a unique place in this impressive list of D.C. attractions.  Students won't find anything else like it, and their appreciation for science is in for a world of growth - growth that any science teacher can appreciate and from which, the museum itself would hope, future generations will benefit.
