Mission Possible

Children usually have this natural instinct that slowly teaches them which things in life are fairy tales and which are real.  It's a skill that failed me when it came to spies - probably because it failed me when it came to bad guys. I so wanted to believe those were only fictional.

Although the use of the term "bad guys" is hardly politically correct, for whatever term should be used, they unfortunately do exist.  And at some point after realizing this, we hopefully also realize there are men and women whose job it is to protect us from those intent on harm.

The International Spy Museum is dedicated to one such occupation.  Washington D.C. educational tours take an exciting turn at this museum, and students are bound to find it a very cool journey.

They may be surprised by how far back in history the art of spying has been in place, astounded to hear which prominent historical figures were said to have used spies - or been them.  There are displays dedicated to amazing tools used for the profession and tributes to famous international heroes.

The Spy museum will take students out of the ordinary, away from the standard learning experiences - just like the science, or art, of espionage is completely outside of the ordinary itself.
