Inauguration 2009 with President-Elect Barack Obama
Whether you voted for him or not, surely you can feel at least the excitement in our country that we've turned a new page. Did you know, for instance, that President-Elect Barack Obama will be inaugurated on steps that were built by slaves? That was one moving realization as stated by Donna Brazile at ABC. There have been many moving speeches made since the election results were officially projected, not the least of which was the beautiful and gracious concession of John McCain. If nothing else, our country did show last night the beauty of democracy and our pride in it.
Since I have been highlighting Washington D.C. the last several weeks, I thought today would be the perfect one to get you excited about the possibilities for watching history happen right before your eyes. Maybe you are one of the many who woke up this morning thrilled and excited about the the results of the election. Maybe you watched the victory speech last night and wished you were there, on the crowded grounds of Grant Park, Chicago's front yard, and the scene of a very moving historic moment. Maybe you've even begun to wonder then, "Could I see the inauguration?" Could I be there when he stands on those very meaningful steps?
The answer is a resounding yes. Our company has an awesome package already put together for a 4-day trip to the Capital during Inauguration 2009. It includes accommodations, many of the attractions already highlighted on this blog, and the Inauguration, its parade, and the Inaugural Student Ball.
Now, tickets to actually be near the the White House steps for the inauguration - at print time, as they say - were not yet even on sale. But there is a public viewing available free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. We can get you there to be a part of one of the most moving historical moments in American history. Although we have a package already prepared, our greatest joy is to customize a trip that works for you. Wouldn't you love to be able to say you were there?
No matter how you voted yesterday, surely you can feel some excitement in the air today. Our president-elect wants us to have hope. I hope we can all find a way to believe him, to support him, and to find our way again to be the United States of America.
