Another Smithsonian Treasure

No matter what exactly you believe about global warming, most people agree that our earth is a beautiful planet and it does require a bit of understanding and stewardship.  Enter the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

This museum does in person what Planet Earth did for viewers of the Discovery Channel.  It will awaken students to the history of the planet and its many wonders.  Hopefully it will inspire greater discovery as well.  If there is one thing we know for sure, it's that there is always more to learn about the earth.

The museum itself has a beautiful photo gallery.  (Photo above by Biskuit on Flickr).  The pictures, of course, won't do justice to actually being there.  The Museum of Natural History can be discovered on Washington D.C. educational tours along with the other amazing Smithsonian facilities.  Each of these facilities may hold different meaning for individual students, but this museum is sure to interest everyone.  Its exhibits are almost as varied as the earth itself, and we all live here after all.  Something is bound to spark our interest in this showcase of our planet's many miracles.
