This week students in current events classes, economics, and government will certainly discuss the financial bailout being voted on by congress and debated around the country. It’s difficult to understand what it means, and specifically what it means for each of us.
Congress and its decisions can seem very far removed from most of us. We know that we have a representative to congress who is meant to speak for us – it’s part of the great structure behind our government. But few of us truly know what exactly it is that our representative believes. Even fewer of us have met the man or woman who speaks for the region in which we live.
Here at Adventure Student Travel, we feel that a meeting with your representative to congress is an invaluable experience for Washington D.C. educational tours. It takes quite a bit of advanced planning to arrange it, and many student travel companies have ceased to even try. But we do.
What could it do for a student’s understanding of government – for their ability to recognize even their own political beliefs – to spend time with and ask questions of someone who works in our government day in and out? This is a truly unique and memorable experience and a wonderful highlight to any tour of Capitol Hill. It is worth the advanced planning, and you’ll be grateful there are student travel companies still willing to take on the task.
